Dubai – First City to Have Its Own Font

Dubai, the largest city of the UAE has become the first city in the world to have a font of its own, designed by the Microsoft Corporation. The Dubai Font was recently launched by the Crown Prince of UAE Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Makhtoum. This font is available in 23 languages and carries typeface in Latin & Arabic scripts. Languages in which the font is available are : Afrikaans, Arabic, Basque, Britannic, Catalan, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, Farsi (Prussian), Gaelic, German, Icelandic, Indonesian, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Sami, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish & Urdu. 

US Astronaut Peggy Whitson Creates New Record

Peggy Whitson has achieved the feat of being the US astronaut to stay longest in the space. She has overcome the record of Jeff Williams had spent 534 days in the space.  She will have completed more than 600 days when she returns to the Earth after her current assignment. Peggy Whitson is also the only woman in the world to have stayed for so long in the space. She also holds the record of being the oldest woman to go into space at the age of 57 years. 

Julia Roberts : Most Beautiful Woman for the 5th Time

Julia Roberts has been named the People Magazine’s Most Beautiful Woman for a record 5th time. Julia had shot to fame for her acting in the famous romantic comedy Pretty Woman, and was accorded the title of the Most Beautiful Woman in the year 1991. She was subsequently given the title in 2000, 2005 and 2010. 

Six Mummies Discovered in Egypt

Six mummies have been discovered in a 3500 year old tomb in a cemetery (The Draa Abul Nagaa) near the famous Valley of the Kings at a short distance from the southern city of Luxor in Egypt. The tomb is said to be belonging to a nobleman who worked as the city judge in the ancient time. 

Violet Brown becomes the Oldest Woman of the World

Violet Brown of Jamaica has become the oldest living person of the world at the age of 117 years & 39 days. She was born on 10th March, 1900. Till Saturday last (15th April’17), Emma Morano of Italy, was the oldest person who was born on born on 29th Nov’1899 and breathed her last on 15th Apr at the age of 117 years and 137 days. Emma remained as the oldest person for a period of 339 days from 13th May’2016 to 15th Apr’17.
